Heads of two Women, one kissing the other

Walter Howell Deverell

Heads of two Women, one kissing the other

Date: 1853

Materials: Pencil and black chalk

The inscription on this delicate drawing shows it to be a gift by the artist's sisters to F. G. Stephens, who attended Deverell's funeral along with Rossetti, Munro and Brown.

It is possibly a portrait of Maria and Margaretta Deverell, who would havebeen twelve and eighteen respectively.
