The Princess Sabra drawing the Lot

Dante Gabriel Rossetti

The Princess Sabra drawing the Lot

Date: 1872

Materials: Stained glass

The title of this subject is "How the damsels of the court cast lots who should be the dragon's meat, and how the lot fell to the King's daughter".

The features of the Princess Sabra in the glass panel have been altered from the design stage in the cartoon to resemble the features of Alexa Wilding (who was a regular model for Rossetti in 1868).
